Buzz Killer and Movie Time

I was in a good mood. But now I have a "Google account". *sigh* World domination in any form is distasteful....

What had me in a good mood was being up in the middle of the night (rocked toddler back to sleep left me awake) and I found PeerFlix. I don't do much leisure on the web. I shop on Amazon, look up stuff on IMDB, read marytsao on Blogger, rate movies on NetFlix, maybe wander over to Kimchi Mammas, and when I remember, customize my order for Planet Organics. But a friend of mine is over at PeerFlix so I went there to check out their site. Really liked the UI and how they've done their community building features. Just joined as mommycoder. You can join too and swap all my kiddo-friendly animated movies.

"Curious George": we just watched that tonight and were really disappointed. The animation is cute as hell and we thought our son actually looked like George especially the delighted peek-a-boo face. But I remember The Man in the Yellow Hat being a lot more buff, macho, and just plain cooler than Will Ferrell's rendition (oh I like Will Ferrell so this is not a knock on him). Also, the science in the movie is atrocious. I also didn't like that "Ted" kept calling George "monkey" (even though I was tempted to do the same thing). All my "Good Night Gorilla" reenforcing of "gorilla" could so easily be undone by "monkey" if I just gave into the temptation...

BTW: movies rock. I used to try to squeeze in as many films at the SF Film Fest every year when I was single and working/living in SF. But now, I just renew my membership thinking SOME DAY that will be me again. (Yeah, right, like in 10+ years if not more?) As for my current life, I can name the last 2 movies I've seen in the past 18 months: "40 Year Old Virgin" -- saw that Sunday and BB1 was born later that week, and "Music and Lyrics" -- seen with a bunch of girlfriends during my "escape" weekend. My next movie will be Friday, March 30th. Booked a sitter and I don't really care what we see, I just want to go the movies!
